Getaway - Meet the team

Grab the best seat in the house and get set to explore the world with the Getaway team. Getaway is Australia's longest-running and most popular holiday and travel program. The show has been on air since 1992 and has attracted consistently high ratings since day one. More than two million Australian viewers tune in to Getaway each week.


The presenters

Catriona Rowntree
After leaving school in 1989 Catriona went on to complete a Diploma in Journalism. She has been a news researcher and newsreader and in 1992 she was one of the 8,000 applicants to apply for a reporter's job on Wonderworld. She began as a researcher, went on to become a reporter and in 1994 became the host of the show. At the same time she was a presenter on Radio Triple J and host of What's Up Doc which meant each week she was working out of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. In 1996 Catriona joined the Getaway team as a reporter.

Jason Dundas
Jason was born in Western Sydney and attended Jamison High School before commencing a graphic arts degree at the University of Western Sydney. In 2002 he heard about a VJ search that MTV was running and decided to put his newly learnt television editing skills to use, compiling an audition tape that would catch the attention of MTV producers. During his time at MTV Jason co-hosted the channel’s flagship daily show, Total Request Live (TRL) and more recently could be seen on Full Tank – MTV’s answer to Getaway. Jason joins the Getaway team for the 2007 season.

Ben Dark
From an early age, Ben had an affinity with the bush. Born on a dam bank in 1972, he spent the first 11 years of his life on his parents' property in Stanthorpe, south-east Queensland. In 1984 Ben was sent to a boarding school. He then spent his time roving around the Queensland outback on horses and motorbikes, through shearing sheds and stock camps, where he mustered cattle and saddled horses. In 1994, Ben started at Brisbane radio station B105 and worked for two-and-a-half years and in 1999, he joined the Getaway team.

Natalie Gruzlewski
Natalie has become one of Queensland’s most popular faces since joining Channel Nine Queensland in 1999. Growing up on the Gold Coast, Gruzlewski first came to Channel Nine’s attention through her role as host of Prime Television’s Surf TV. Establishing herself quickly as a professional and respected presenter, she soon acquired a national identity as Lady Luck on The Footy Show. Apart from her obvious love of the beach, Natalie Gruzlewski enjoys spending time with family and friends, yoga, kickboxing and weekends away.

Jules Lund
Jules Lund has a big passion for life. By the the age of 24, he had already hosted his own weekly Melbourne radio show on Fox FM, travelled the globe hosting the Extreme Games for an international audience, been the subject of a six-part series on his adventures through Brazil, Malaysia, USA, Spain and has co-hosted the Channel Nine music show, So Fresh. Straight out of school in 1996, Jules studied graphic design for 18 months before becoming closely involved with the Reach Foundation through a camp for suicidal teenagers. He has since worked with more than 80,000 teenagers through the Reach Foundation, facilitating programs for teenagers ranging from school students to kids in detention centres and the intellectually disabled.

Dermott Brereton
Dermott played 189 games for Hawthorn (1982-92), seven games for Sydney (1994) and 15 games for Collingwood (1994).At Hawthorn, he played in eight Grand Finals including premiership sides in 1983, 1988, 1989 and 1991. He won Hawthorn's best and fairest in 1985 and represented Victoria nine times. Dermott joined Channel Nine as a regular on In Melbourne Today in 1989. In 1992 he teamed up with Simon O'Donnell and Sam Newman for a football segment on Wide World Of Sports. Dermott joined Channel Nine's Getaway in 2007 and is now a regular reporter, travelling the world, on the award winning series that airs on Thursdays at 7.30pm.

Kelly Landry
Melbourne model Kelly Landry joined the Nine Network in May 2008 as co-host of a revamped version of the popular game show, Wheel of Fortune. She has since joined the Getaway team and has already covered some amazing holiday destinations both here in Australia and around the world.

Formerly a travel reporter on Coxy's Big Break on Channel Seven, Landry also gained presenting experience on Sunrise, as well as regular hosting stints for the Tuesday and Saturday Lotto draw.

After graduating from high school, Landry moved to Melbourne to study PR and marketing at university. She received her Bachelor of Business, majoring in public relations, in 2001 before modelling around the globe for the next few years in Japan, Germany, New Zealand, Milan, Switzerland, London and around Asia.

Throughout her travels, Landry always considered Melbourne home, maintaining "it's one of the best cities in the world". Whenever Landry returned to Australia, she continued to work part-time in event management and media relations.

As well as starring in international catwalk shows and print campaigns, Landry has featured in numerous television commercials and has had small roles in a number of Australian films.

She counts as a career highlight, scoring a coveted presenting role in Milan in 2000, which saw her hosting the English-speaking version of the Italian television show Capri Model, featuring top designers, including Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli.

In 2006, Landry got her first major Australian television role as a regular reporter on Coxy's Big Break. She has also been involved in the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal for the past two years, and has appeared on the panel, and as host of, the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt.

Landry was selected in 2007 to become the Myer Fashion on the Field ambassador for the Melbourne Cup Carnival. That year, she also worked with the City of Melbourne, appearing in television campaigns to promote Christmas in the city.

A self-confessed action junkie, Kelly Landry relishes every opportunity to try something new, adding rock climbing, skydiving, tank driving and outback adventures (to name a few) to her adventure list this year.
