Manchester is home to two extremely famous and important sporting grounds which are virtually next door to each other and both named after the suburb Old Trafford.
The football stadium is home to Manchester United, the world's richest club, which has made George Best, Bobby Charlton, David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson household names. A visit to the city wouldn't be complete without seeing the stadium and its museum.
The Old Trafford Cricket Ground is home of the Lancashire County Cricket Club, and is England's second oldest international test venue with tests being played there since 1884. It has had some proud moments in club and international games, and trophies, paintings and souvenirs make an interesting insight into its history.
In 1999, the Old Trafford Lodge opened. It has 68 rooms and 36 of those have a private balcony overlooking the cricket pitch. Rooms are twin or double and some can accommodate children on a pull-out sofa. All have ensuites, phones, television with sports channels, a trouser press, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
