With wedding bells ringing in her head, you'd expect Kelly Landry to know the perfect honeymoon destination when she sees it.
She flew to Nadi in Fiji and then took a 20 minute car trip and 15 minute boat ride to the island, off the coast of Taveuni. Then you take a 40-minute boat ride and the romance begins.
Qamea Resort & Spa caters for up to 34 adults and it is all about romance. There are 11 beachfront bures, two honeymoon bures, a honeymoon villa and two Fiji villas with private pool. They are tucked between coconut palms, tropical gardens and jagged volcanic mountains. Each has a private outdoor riverstone shower. A kilometre of white sand provides a private beach running the length of the front of the property. There are also four pools.
The only property on Qamea Island, the air-conditioned resort covers 40 hectares. Rooms are spacious, have polished mahogany floors, four poster canopy beds, ceiling fans, separate sitting area and décor includes antique Fijian art from neighbouring villages and islands.
Gourmet cuisine rivals top international restaurants and there is an emphasis on service healthy food. Seafood is local, as are most of the organic vegetables and fruits.
The Dive Bure at the end of the beach leads to some of the world's premier dive and snorkelling sites. There is a PADI-accredited dive shop taking out two or three trips a day. There may be nothing to compare with the incredible fish life on Piano Reef.
Daily activities include catered picnic lunches enjoyed at cascading jungle waterfalls and invigorating coastal and mountain hikes.
Qamea Spa offers Fijian body therapies and facials using Parisian Guinot products.
Qamea Night of Decadence begins with a Fijian warrior escort taking you from your bure to the Jungle Spa. You are greeted with champagne and tropical fruits and your body is polished with a Tropical Sugar Glow. That is followed by an outdoor candle-lit shower. To follow, choose between a massage or facial.
When you are totally relaxed, your warrior escorts you to your verandah for a candle lit dinner, champagne and serenading by the Qamea band.
