Denarau Island is just 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport. The 2.55 square km, up-market island has plenty of fancy resorts and there are more on the way. Everything is perfectly manicured and there are lush and fragrant tropical gardens everywhere you look.
Radisson Resort opened in July last year and has the island's best beach frontage. It has loads of facilities nestled around lagoon pools and private gardens. Warm Fijian hospitality is a given with friendly staff and locals welcoming visitors to their paradise.
The resort is just five minutes from Port Denarau Marina, which has immediate access to outer-island resorts and day trips.
Radisson Resort has Fiji's largest rooms and suites, many with views of the ocean, lagoon or gardens. Its 135 rooms and 135 one- and two-bedroom suites have been appointed with a blend of contemporary and Fijian décor. Balconies or courtyards allow you to soak in the surrounding beauty.
There are three restaurants and five swimming lagoons, one exclusively for adults. The resort has Fiji's only White Water Tunnel slide. It also features a Pirate Kids' Club, complimentary non-motorised water sports, the Harmony Retreat Spa and Massage and complimentary shuttle to Port Denarau Marina.
As Nadi Town is just 20 minutes away, it's easy to pop in for some shopping and maybe take in some local cultural experiences. Main Street is pretty much devoted to souvenir and duty free shops. If you head to the south end, you will find Indian fabric and clothing shops.
Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple is located at the south end of Main Street and has intricate carvings of Hindu deities. Indian artists painted the ceiling frescos and exterior of the temple.
Lord Murugan is worshipped there, which is the equivalent of worshipping nature. He is the guardian deity of seasonal rains. Visitors must wear neat and modest dress.
