Niagara Falls straddles the Canadian-US border between Ontario and New York. As powerful as they are beautiful, the Falls attract 14 million visitors each year, many of them honeymooners or couples actually taking their vows beside the Falls.
The Falls comprise three separate waterfalls on the Niagara River, a relative youngster at just 10,000 years old. Horseshoe Falls (sometimes called Canadian Falls), American Falls and the smaller adjacent Bridal Veil Falls. Between them they provide North America's most voluminous waterfall, 58 kilometres of natural outlet from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, the longest in the Great Lakes system.
Niagara Helicopters have Bell helicopter flights over the area. They follow the Niagara River, over the Whirlpool Rapids and Rainbow Bridge. You will see the beauty of Queen Victoria Park, fly past the American Falls and Skylon Tower. Just before reaching the Minolta Tower, the helicopter changes direction and follows the curve of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Rainbows come and go from all directions and you are guaranteed to end up with some pretty spectacular photos!
Niagara Helicopters feature individual headsets with commentary in various languages. They also have wheelchair access.
Niagara Helicopter 10-minute flights are around $110 per person.
Niagara Helicopter 12 minute flights are around $130 for adults and $80 for children. They operate between 9am until dusk, year round.
Prices correct at August 21, 2008.
