Where is your favourite vacation spot and why?
I have a couple: Austin, Texas and Montreal, Canada. Austin is a big music town, and being a musician that's a great spot for me. And I've spent a lot of time in Austin so that's sort of like my second home. Montreal is there's no polite way to put it even the ugly women are beautiful there.
What's your number-one travel tip?
Always bring a suitcase with your own food.
Well for me, it would be cans of tuna and cashews. You know, 'cos you need some protein and you never know when you end up some place, how the food's going to be. I mean, you guys don't have to worry about that. The food's great in Australia … I've never even been there, but that's what I hear.
What do you never leave home without when you travel?
An Allman Brothers record.
Where's somewhere you've never been and always wanted to go?
You're not just saying that?
No, I'm not just saying that. Australia and Greece would be the two that are at the top of my list.
What was the best thing about making this movie?
Well, I like to play a different guy in every movie and I've never played an FBI agent so that was an appeal. And also I really liked DJ Caruso, the director, I liked him very much. He's a great guy and he and I knew each other certainly beforehand, and I've just always wanted to work with him.
So this character is a bit of a technophobe. Do you relate to that?
Yeah, absolutely; I still write with a pencil. I'm not big on technology.
Do you e-mail or have any of that sort of technology?
No, I just got a cell phone two years ago. [I got] my first bank account was when I was 36 years old. I'm kinda old-school, I'm the kinda guy who hides my money in a mattress.
So what's this movie going to touch on when people watch it?
I think everyone's a little paranoid these days about the invasion of privacy. And I'm sure it will [touch on] that; and hopefully it will entertain people, because it is kind of a thrill ride. So hopefully it will do that first and foremost.
Did you have to do a lot of running around or was there a stunt guy?
No, I think I did all the running. There were a few things that the stunt guy did that my old bones are too tired for, but I did quite a bit of running.
