What is your favourite vacation spot and why?

My favourite vacation spot would have to be Cabo San Lucas. My favourite spot to stay is the Esperides — it's one of the most beautiful resorts I've ever stayed at. The service is remarkable, the water and beaches are beautiful. The water is blue, like crystal-clear blue, and the fishing is great 3 I love fishing — and the food is awesome.

What's your number one travel tip?

My number one travel tip would have to be — and this is one that I should probably follow myself — cut your cell phone off when you go on vacation. I think that we live in a society now where we can't live without our phones and I think that a true vacation just consists of freeing your mind completely and making sure that everybody's okay before you leave, you know? Making sure Mommy has the number, Daddy has the number and, you know, whoever you're with, whether it's friends or a lover or whoever, then you know, that's all you need to be okay.

What's your number one ultimate travel destination?

It's going to have to be Cabo San Lucas. Oh, Saint Barts was beautiful this one time I went. It was absolutely gorgeous as a matter of fact, so St Barts and Cabo San Lucas — they're right up there.

What do you never leave home without?

I never leave home without my credit card, my bible and my cell phone — it's hard not to.

What's your best Australian travel experience?

I came to Australia and shot a video at Bondi Beach and it's one of the most beautiful videos ever because of the beach. It's like I was in the video but the beach just took all my joy, it just completely stole the show, it was so beautiful. The shot of the water was so blue, I remember the director saying 'this is almost unbelievable how gorgeous this is', and the way everything was lit, it was just gorgeous.

The best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job, honestly, would have to be travelling. To be able to go to so many beautiful places and see so many sites, to the Opera House, to the Eiffel Tower — just so many places and beautiful people. Trying different foods is always exciting to me as well.

What was the best thing about making your album Miss Kelly?

The best thing about making Miss Kelly would have to be the studio process — it's always fun. Being in the studio, being creative and then going out and promoting it — as weird as that sounds, because it does take a lot of work to promote it, but when you're excited about something, then you don't mind the work.

What was it like working with Travis McCoy?

Working with Travis McCoy for 'Daylight' was so much fun. It was actually no effort because we had fun in the studio and we stayed up to literally about… he says, 'Baby girl stayed up the whole night', and I did. We did stay up till about three or four in the morning to make sure that the song was right, and it is. It's a great record.

Where was the video clip shot?

The location for the video for 'Daylight' was on the rooftops of New York. It was a cold day. I wish it [had been] hot outside. I think that would have made it even better, but we were going into fall around that time and it was nice, it was fun. It didn't feel like a video, it actually felt like a house party, so the vibe that you feel on the video where you're like 'I wish I was there', I wanted that to come across. I made that known to the director and he gave me that.

Where would you most like to live in the world?

That's a hard one. Gosh, I don't know — everywhere I go I say I want to live there. I felt like that the first time I came to London and I felt like that the first time I came to Australia. I remember coming here with Destiny's Child and I remember Beyoncé and Michelle saying, 'We're going to leave you here with the koala bears and kangaroos cause that's all you talk about' and I remember saying 'okay!' And after I saw the movie Finding Nemo, I remember saying, 'I'm definitely moving to Australia', so Australia and London have to be right at the top of my list.

Where is the strangest place you've ever seen an image of yourself?

In Africa I saw a billboard of myself for a product I was endorsing at the time and that was really cool to see it on the other side of the world.

What's the best meal you've had and where did you have it?

It was at this restaurant in London called Azzome. The food is amazing. It's Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine together and it's so good. I just remember thinking 'I just want to start all over again' after we finished. I think it was also the company … good company also makes food taste good.

If you were stranded on a desert island, which three people would you take with you?

Oh that's so hard. Three people to take on a desert island with me … just three? That's so hard. My friend from back home, two of my friends from back home, and my mom because she would make sure that we were okay.

You've worked with a few artists, who was your favourite?

Nelly. Nelly was so much fun. We made great history together, so he'd have to be the best. I love him.
