catches up with John Cusack.
Q: Alright, well let's start with your favourite vacation spot and why?
John: That's good, right. My favourite vacation spot, let me think, I'm not sure. I do know what my favourite vacation spot is. The Caribbean. I love the Caribbean Islands, I had to think about it, 'cos it was a good question.
Q: What about your number one travel tip?
John: Two … mmm … mmm. Never travel somewhere you don’t like. Don’t do it. Or that you kinda like. Never even travel somewhere that you think's okay. You've gotta travel somewhere you really like. Otherwise it will drive you crazy. Never go on vacation with acquaintances. Alright.
Q: What do you never leave home without?
John: My wallet, that’s about it, otherwise I’ll leave everything.
Q: Do you have an ultimate travel destination, somewhere you’ve never been and you’ve always wanted to go?
John: Yes, space. But I can’t get past the fact that people die everyday and I would like to take a joy ride for $20 million, if I can get past that, which I probably can’t, I know I can’t, I would love to go. Go to the space station, I think that would be really cool.
Q: Have you been to Australia?
Q: What’s your favourite travel experience there?
John: That’s over five, that’s six, you win grand prize. My favourite place in Australia, I really like the Great Barrier Reef. I went diving on the Great Barrier Reef, I think that was fantastic. I think Sydney's fantastic too. Sydney’s beautiful, I could live in Sydney for sure.
Q: Have you ever been to a haunted location or hotel on a vacation?
John: Yeah I have actually been to some places that are in New Orleans that are supposed to be haunted. Ghosts. I went to a voodoo kind of place where she did her thing. You should check it out.
Q: Do you have any of your own experiences with anything being haunted, anywhere you’ve ever stayed?
John: Yeah, I’ve had some, a couple of experiences which I’ve talked about today, but none of them are, like, bad, no senses of bad things happening, much more like good things. Like you know, something that moved but you can't understand why. You try to figure it out with your friend but there’s no real explanation. So I've had that, I've had things that weren’t supposed to move in a couple different rooms, but it never felt bad. I never felt like it was a bad presence.
Q: What was the best thing about making the movie, 1408?
John: The challenge of trying to pull it off and then feeling like you're up on a tightrope with the director and the cinematographer and we went on this kind of journey together, felt like it was definitely an original journey, you know, 'cos you don’t know, once you get in the room everything starts to get crazy, you have to sustain it, it has to sustain itself and top itself and go to new places for an hour and 10 mins and I didn’t know if we could pull it off. I didn’t know if it was even possible but it was fun to try.
John Cusack stars as horror novelist Mike Enslin whose life changes after he checks into suite 1408 in the notoriously haunted Dolphin Hotel.
