Catriona's Scenic Tours coach and river voyage began in Turkey, culminating in a moving visit along the Dardanelles Strait to Gallipoli, three hours west of Istanbul.
The 19-day Scenic Cruise continues all the way to Hungary and this week they are in Romania, home to one of the last communist regimes to fall in Eastern Europe.
Romania is at the crossroads of Central and South-eastern Europe on the Lower Danube, within and outside the Carpathian arch, bordering on the Black Sea. It shares a border with Hungary and Serbia to the west, Ukraine and Moldova to the northeast and east and Bulgaria to the south.
