Santorini
Santorini always springs to mind when people think about the Greece. The classic, romantic escape is perched on the edge of an ancient volcanic crater beautiful and spectacular. Poets have sung the praises of this majestic rock which rises from the sea and guards the secrets of Atlantis.

Mykonos
With its white-washed houses with blue trims, Mykonos is a great all-rounder. Donkeys carry people and goods up the winding roads, and the views are endless. It's a great place for families with safe beaches, but if you're wanting to party, there's plenty of that on offer too. There's lots of glamour and it's known as the catwalk of the Aegean. Head to the little streets lined with boutiques and check out Armani, Ralph Lauren and their expensive neighbours!

Skopelos
The greenest island, Skopelos has masses of pines and the contrast of the dense forest with the deep blue of the sea offers unrivalled natural beauty. It was the location for the movie musical
Mamma Mia, which has added to its popularity on the tourist map.

Hydra
Just an hour's ferry ride from Athens, Hydra's capital has attractive red-tiled houses and stone-paved narrow alleys. It has charming villages, museum and interesting architecture. The only form of transport is by donkey or foot.

Lefkada
Not as well-known as many other islands, Lefkada in the Ionian Sea is connected to the mainland by a long causeway and floating bridge. The island epitomises all those travel posters of the Greek Islands showing white, sandy beaches and turquoise waters. It is mountainous and green and has a beautifully natural environment.
