Even the most expensive cities have cheap places to stay. The Getaway crew found The Tent in Munich where you can stay for $15 a night. The one catch is, you may need to share with 400 other people!

It is a haven for backpackers, with breakfast included and the luxury of a hot shower. No-one is really there for the comfort. The main attraction is the cheap nightly rate - that, along with meeting new friends.

There are people from all over the world and of all ages sharing your temporary home, and as most are out doing touristy things during the day, evening is the most likely time you will see your roommates.

It can be fun joining in with your fellow travellers, and sharing a German lager around a campfire.

The Tent prides itself in never turning anyone away. Given Munich's winters, that can only be a good thing! They also give you as many blankets as you need.
