Funyaks are a cross between a kayak and a raft and are designed for two. They are safe, fun, easily managed, self-bailing and no experience is necessary to enjoy them.
Rivergods run kayaking and rafting adventures around Perth and the south-west of Western Australia. Where you paddle depends on water levels. The best months are usually between June and October.
The Avon River on the outskirts of Perth has grade three rapids. There is great fun to be had on a half-day trip through the Avon Valley. Start at Walyunga National Park, then descend the river for an exciting finish at Bells Rapids. It is a terrific introduction to rafting, ideal for families or people with a time limit.
Tom Suffling, who owns Rivergods, has been kayaking since childhood and knows the local areas exceptionally well. He is particularly aware of safety and has designed trips for beginners and pros, environmentalists and adventurers. Corporate team building is also an important part of Rivergods' operation.
Other Rivergods tours involve whitewater rafting, a day on the Murray River 90 minutes south of Perth and Collie River Funyaks.
