Melbourne stretch Hummer

Thursday, July 16, 2009
Jules Lund linked up with some 'old friends' in Melbourne, and took to the streets in an eye-catching 14-seater stretch Hummer limo. The long, sleek vehicles are conspicuous enough, but this one is bright pink — inside and out.

Talk about arrival in style. The amazing 11m Hummer has fully equipped bars, luxury leather seats, plasma TV, 5000-song karaoke system, DVD and CD players, fully integrated sound system, fibre optic and neon lights, strobe lighting, overhead touch pad and phone communication to the driver — who, by the way, is professionally dressed. Soft drink, water, sparkling wine and cheese platter are supplied to keep your thirst quenched and hunger pangs at bay.

The Hummer can be hired for hens' and bucks' nights, parties, fundraisers, sales incentives or just to make a statement. The choice is unlimited and packages can be designed to suit your needs. If you prefer something a little more subtle, there are black Hummers for rent.

Galactic Circus

The first stop was at Galactic Circus at Crown Entertainment Centre. It's Australia's largest indoor interactive theme park and is free to enter. It's a magical world with hundreds of the latest arcade games, ticket and prize games, indoor laser skirmish, state-of-the-art bowling and carnival favourites, such as fairy floss, popcorn and show bags. Staff members wear fun costumes to get you in the mood to revisit your childhood or to encourage those still experiencing theirs. It's open every day until 2am.

Andrews Hamburgers

Next stop was Jules' favourite hamburger shop, in Albert Park. Andrews has been rated by food critics as serving the best burger in Melbourne. Jules reckons the best in Australia! The institution was established in 1939, and the family now running it took over in 1957.

Patties are cooked on an extra-hot grill to make a crunchy edge, they add shredded white cabbage and iceberg lettuce, melted cheese, tomato sauce and smoky bacon. Lip smackingly good! That's the basic burger. It only gets better from there.

Kingpin Bowling Lounge

Back at Crown Entertainment Complex, Jules and his friends tried their hands at ten-pin bowling. There are 15 bowling lanes, VIP lanes, two bars, gourmet food and beverages, large lounges with pool tables and 20 giant screens showing sporting events and music videos.
