We speak to a b&b expert on what makes the perfect bed and breakfast!
Wendy Wright, née Robinson, is an important figure in the b&b community. She has written five successful guidebooks on b&bs in Australia and New Zealand and has recently launched a b&b voucher system for use by the international travel industry as well as gifts.
Wendy has been running b&b accommodation for more than 16 years and has been described as the "consummate hostess". You can check out her credentials next time you visit Melbourne.
Perfectly located on the shores of Port Phillip Bay, close to the beach and cafe society of the revamped St Kilda, Robinsons by the Sea is just 15 minutes from Melbourne's CBD. These days many business people choose to stay out of the city and enjoy the benefits of life near the water; cosy in winter and refreshing in the summer months.
Robinsons is a two storey Victorian triple fronted home and has five guest rooms, each with individual décor tastefully created by Wendy and her husband Jonathan.
The Balcony Room is upstairs at the front of the home and has king bed, open fireplace and views across the Bay.
The Eastern has a queen bed draped with a delicate net canopy, The King has traditional Laura Ashley furnishings while Roses is dedicated to the world's favourite flower and the Bears, which is downstairs, has a large collection of friendly teddies to keep you company.
The two bathrooms are very luxurious and one has a spa.
Wendy and Jonathan also manage two self-contained apartments next door to Robinsons which have special weekly and monthly rates.
A delicious full breakfast is included in all rates.
