Over 200ks an hour and you're at the wheel … sounds too good to be true, doesn't it!
Calder Park is used by car clubs for private race practice, testing racing vehicles, street drags, fastrack racing and television commercials. It is owned by legendary Australian racing driver, Bob Jane.
It is home to the first and only super-speedway track built outside the USA. The Goodyear Thunderdome is where you will find Fastrack Racing, which is owned by champion driver, Marshall J Brewer. He was in the grandstand for the first race in February 1988 and has competed in every race season since. Marshall is a motor mechanic, metal fabricator, specialist welder and builds his own racing cars. He is Australia's only person accredited to train super-speedway drivers and issue licences to race.
Fastrack offers the thrill of a lifetime when you experience V8 power at more than 240km/h. They have five NASCARS, four AUSCARS and four Fastrack V8 Super Challenge race cars. An AUSCAR is a Holden or Ford with right-hand drive and a top speed of 265km/h. A NASCAR is an American Winston Cup racing car with left-hand drive and an enormous top speed of 300km/h.
Thunderdome is the only place in Australia where people can swap the family sedan and experience 260km/h driving around the hair-raising high-banked turns of Calder Park.
For anyone who has yearned to emulate the professional racers, Marshall recommends a Fastrack Rookie Course. You receive theory and expert instruction before taking the wheel for 15 laps in an AUSCAR or NASCAR. To complete the thrill you will enjoy four thrilling Ride of a Lifetime laps with your instructor.
Rules and regulations are extremely strict and must be obeyed at all times.
You will receive a V8 Super Challenge cap, certificate with photograph, safety driving gear and a bite to eat and drink for yourself and a friend.
