Hatton Hotel is an elegant Italianate building that has been meticulously restored, reflecting the cross-cultural city that Melbourne is today.
Built in 1902 as a hotel mainly as a place for wealthy Victorian farmers to stay when they visited Melbourne the Hatton Hotel is an elegant Italianate building that has been meticulously restored. Much of the original furniture was stripped and put to new use, and the solid doors, pine floors, open fireplaces and lead-lighting are from the building's early days.
The interior has been very cleverly designed and furnished to achieve a perfect balance between comfort and functionality. Its decor reflects the cross-cultural city that Melbourne is today.
Each of the 20 guest rooms is individual, elegant, spacious and light. The windows are original and can be opened a rare treat in today's hotels but there is also independent air-conditioning for heating and cooling.
The rooms have a well-appointed kitchenette, complete with fine teas and plunger coffee, an en-suite with deep, enamel tub and spacious vanity area, and king or queen size beds made with crisp, white linen.
Even the rooftop of The Hatton has been restored and from there, amongst a cluster of beautiful old chimneys, are wonderful views of the Botanic Gardens, Government House and the grand homes of St Kilda Road. Continental breakfast can be enjoyed on the rooftop, the lounge bar or in your room.
Each room has a computer point, and there are business and Internet facilities available. There is also a conference room for small events or meetings.
