Melbourne backpackers

Thursday, November 16, 2006

Urban Central is new backpacker accommodation in Melbourne. It caters for those on a budget and those who want to live it up.

All modes of transport are on Urban Central's doorstep, making it an ideal location. It's an easy five-minute walk to the city and close to St Kilda Beach and its many bars, cafés and restaurants.

Staff are all experts in Melbourne, its obvious and not-so-well-known venues and activities. They can set you on the right track if you are there for a short stay or long-term. When anything new and exciting is happening, it is announced on a series of whiteboards throughout the accommodation.

Fresh linen, a free towel and personalised security card are provided on check-in. Urban Central has one of the most secure door-locking systems in Melbourne. Security cards give access to your room and front door. Individual lockers with in-built power points are available to store backpacks and there is a safe at reception for other valuables.

Complimentary breakfast of cereal, toast, orange juice, tea and coffee is served between 7.30-9.30am. The kitchen is stocked with free rice and pasta — all you need is sauce!

Rooms sleep a maximum of four. Double and family rooms are available on each level. Plenty of bathrooms on each floor mean less queuing and there are vending machines in bathrooms stocked with personal products.

There is a laundry on the first floor and detergent is available for purchase at reception.

Each floor has a themed lounge area. First floor is for movie watching. The second floor is a chill out area where you can read or play boardgames. The third floor has a library, with plenty of travel books.

Ground floor reception is open 24 hours and you'll usually find someone around who's interested in a game of pool or sharing a drink.

There are snack and drink machines throughout and plenty of places nearby to keep the hunger away.
