If you are looking for an adults only romantic escape with all the luxuries included, then you will love The Deckhouse.
The Great Ocean Road is one of the world's most beautiful scenic coastal drives. The untamed coastline offers superb scenery, easy access to beaches and the bush, all types of wildlife and the Otway Ranges with their rainforests and waterfalls. Stretching from Angelsea to Warrnambool, the road was completed in 1932 after 14 years of construction by ex-servicemen.
The hamlet of Wye River clings to the coastline in a breathtaking manner. It offers ocean on one side and forests and mountains on the other. It is less inhabited than many of the towns along the coast and is made up of holiday homes and B&Bs, a general store and local pub, the Rookery Nook.
The Deck House was built for two. It has wonderful views across the patrolled beach, where visitors can enjoy skin diving, snorkelling along the reefs or rock fishing.
The studio apartment has modern furnishings, a delightful fully-equipped kitchen, outdoor deck with barbecue and television, video, CD player, books and games to help gently pass the time. It has a day bed, laundry facilities and a gourmet breakfast basket is provided. To stay cosy on bleak, wintry days, there is a wood-burning fire.
You will no doubt spot kangaroos, koalas and echidnas and lots of birdlife from your deckchair and if you take advantage of the many walking tracks.
The Rookery Nook also enjoys panoramic views and serves excellent food, ranging from steak and fish and chips to pumpkin and ricotta salad.
Lorne is just 15 minutes away and offers a good selection of shops and eating places.
