Fancy a delightful weekend of pampering in a '30s art deco boutique hotel?

Victoria's Daylesford/Hepburn Springs is the state's most densely populated b&b area. That could be because it has Australia's highest concentration of naturally occurring mineral springs.

The Springs Retreat is a '30s art deco boutique hotel which has recently been refurbished. It started its life as a pub and is now a four-and-a-half-star hotel. During its makeover, traditional art deco items such as statues, mirrors, tables and chandeliers were brought in to give the building back its original feel.

There are 10 cabins, 10 hotel rooms, five with spa suites, one a deluxe spa suite, and there is a one bedroom apartment. They have a combination of single, double, twin or triple share rooms.

Hydroponic heating keeps the lower level comfortable year round, and there is electric heating upstairs and in the cabins.

Continental breakfast of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, juices, teas, coffee, croissants and fresh bread is served each day, and there is the option of a cooked breakfast.

Drinks and gourmet bar meals are served in the Club Lounge and candlelit fine dining can be enjoyed in the beautiful dining room. There is also a cafe and both rooms have an open fireplace.

The Steam Room has a soothing water feature wall and gentle music playing while you relax in the lavender scented, skin cleansing steam released from a copper cauldron. The steam is created by the plunging of red hot granite into the cauldron and the effect is heavenly.

Hydrotherapy baths in the Spa House allow you to luxuriate in algae bath essences while 180 jets gently wash away toxins and tensions.

European soft pack treatment beds are designed to give you a feeling of weightless tranquility and you feel relaxation setting in as you receive a massage from one of the expert staff.

Thirteen coloured clay preparations which work with the reflex zones and meridians of the body are available. They are based on ancient Chinese teachings and therapists will personalise the right treatment for you.
