There can’t be many places in the world where just 20 minutes from the capital city you are totally back to nature. Seven Mile Beach is one of them.
Seven Mile Beach Equestrian Centre is on 20 hectares and runs full-time in a protected pine forest laced with trails on the spit surrounded by Seven and Five Mile Beaches.
Owned and operated by Robert and Anne O’Rourke, the centre offers guided trail-rides through forest and along stretches of beach, or you can have lessons at the centre itself. There are three arenas – beginners, dressage and jumping – and a cross country course.
Riders can enjoy 1-3 hours along the trails and all levels of experience can be catered for. They are equipped for disabled riders to enjoy themselves, and if you want to ride and get to the airport in a hurry, hot showers are provided.
It’s not unusual to spot pods of dolphins playing behind the waves.
