Australia's third largest island: Kangaroo Island
17:30 AEST Sat May 4 2013
Kangaroo Island known by its 4400 residents as 'KI' is wonderfully diverse. Australia's third largest island after Tasmania and Melville Island, it has soaring cliffs, dense forest, towering sand dunes, wetlands, superb white beaches and it’s packed with wildlife.
The island is considered one of Australia's natural wonders and around one-third of it is protected as parks. Like most people, Natalie Gruzkewski declared her first visit won't be her last!
She travelled from Cape Jervis on the mainland to Penneshaw by SeaLink which has two large and luxurious vehicle and passenger ferries. Travel time is 45 minutes. There's no public transport on the island so having your own vehicle gives you the freedom to enjoy all there is to see.
