Adelaide is known as the City of Churches. It is a pretty city and locals are very proud of the wine produced just a short drive away. If you prefer to base yourself right in Adelaide, we've found some good, affordable hotels for you.
The Grosvenor Vista Hotel is right in the middle of town, opposite the beautiful old building which is now the casino. Shopping, theatre and restaurants are all around you. It has two restaurants and the 290 rooms come in three levels: executive, business and standard. Parking is undercover and there is a sauna, exercise room and laundry facilities. The rooms are air-conditioned and have direct-dial phone, colour television, radio, refrigerator, mini-bar and ensuite bathroom.
Hotel Adelaide International is in North Adelaide, a stroll from the city centre and the cosmopolitan cafes and shops of O'Connell Street. The hotel has great views of the city and has a pool, two cocktail bars and the Brougham Restaurant, which is open seven days for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel offers a courtesy shuttle bus to the city and has 24-hour room service and reception.
Hurley's Arkaba Hotel is in Fullarton, just five minutes from the city. It has won Best Overall Hotel in Australia and is known for being affordable. It has live entertainment in the Ark Tavern Bar seven nights a week. Schnitzel Plus offers 152 varieties of schnitzel and is open for three meals a day. Noah's Top of the Ark has live bands on Friday and Saturday and dancing classes on Wednesday nights. Sporty's Down Under Bar has pool tables, Lotto, keno, a TAB agency and a big screen for watching the latest in sport.
Marineland Holiday Village at West Beach is on 125 hectares of reserve, 15 minutes from Adelaide's CBD. It has absolute beach frontage, a heated pool, wading pool, tennis court, cricket pitch, basketball ring and barbecue area. It is a perfect place to take the family, close to the Barossa, Adelaide Hills and Southern Vales. It has won the State Tourism Award for Superior Accommodation and offers two-bedroom villas, two-bedroom holiday units, cabins and cabin vans.
The Old Mill is in Hahndorf, a lovely little town with strong German influence. The hotel's beautiful faÃ§ade has been restored to reflect times gone by, but the interior is state-of-the-art for today's needs and tastes. The Old Mill has 16 chalets, each with spa, and the in-house upstairs accommodation has four rooms and two suites. The motel units are set among old trees and there is a bubbling creek running through the complex. The family restaurant offers all-you-can-eat buffet and there's a saloon bar and outdoor cafe.
