Look out, lovers! Drop a few hints and head north to Noosa where you can cruise the waters by gondola, complete with a seafood platter and a bottle of wine (or two).
Richard Wilschke — better known as Ricardo — owns Gondolas of Noosa and runs romantic cruises along Noosa's river and canals. He is one of the Sunshine Coast's last gondola owners, and most people find the experience so different, they wonder why they haven't done it before. The gondolas can take up to six passengers.
Ricardo will take you out for half an hour, an hour or 1.5 hours, and if you don't know where you want to go, he will make the decision for you.
He can pick you up anywhere along the river or canals, but outside Ricky Ricardo's Restaurant is the most popular place to board the gondola.
Ricardo can supply a delicious seafood platter for you to enjoy along the way, or you can take your own food and wine and just pay for the ride.
Views from the river are spectacular, and it's the perfect way to have a romantic holiday cruise. You can go at any time of the day, but sunset is the most popular time. You will pass some of the area's most extravagant homes and holiday houses.
