Paramount Adventure Centre

Thursday, March 8, 2007

David Payne started Paramount Adventure Centres (PAC) in 1994 with the launch of the Burleigh Heads indoor climbing centre. Since then it has developed into the largest adventure business on the Gold Coast and offers a huge range of activities including abseiling and kayaking. They also have learn-to-surf programs.

They attract tourists, locals, school groups, corporate and social groups for couples or up to 150 people. They may participate in a two-hour session or right through to full-on adventure adrenalin days.

It's an alternative to the beach, shopping and theme parks, which are fun, but could wear thin after a while. Particularly if the weather isn't Queensland perfect!

Indoor rock climbing at the centre caters for beginners through to the hard core climber. Climbs are graded over 850 square metres of wall space with 11 metres of height. All equipment is provided and every participant is taken through a safety session.

Rock climbing takes you to new heights, physically and mentally, as climbs are conquered on the simulated rock face, while increasing strength, flexibility and stamina.

PAC regularly organises outdoor climbing and abseiling trips for those wanting the challenge of climbing a natural rock face or the thrill of taking the easy way down. There are climbs for all levels of ability and gear is supplied.

An Adrenalin Adventure Day includes climbing, mountain-biking, kayaking and surfing. Begin in the climbing centre then be transported to the Hinze Dam for the cycling and kayaking. Then head for the beach to surf, even if you've never done it before! Lunch and snacks are provided.
