Catriona has found a Queensland resort fit for an Aussie pop Prince & Princess with sunshine and seclusion.
Thala (pronounced Ta La) Beach Lodge is on 58ha with 2km of untouched coastline and offers one of the most private holidays you could ever wish for. Australia's prince and princess of pop, Daniel Johns and Natalie Imbruglia, were married there.
The ancient area has rainforests from Gondwana and fossils alongside footpaths are more than 350 million years old.
Although just 10 minutes from Port Douglas, it is natural and secluded. Rooms are nestled in a eucalypt forest, all up in the tree canopy creating an unobtrusive relationship with nature.
There are three accommodation styles. Bungalows are like tree-houses with some 6m off the ground. They have large living/bedroom space with ensuite and veranda. Built from wood and with green corrugated-iron roofs and timber verandas, they blend beautifully with their natural surroundings.
Eucalypt Bungalows are in the eucalypt forest with majestic views of world heritage mountain ranges.
Coral Sea Bungalows have amazing views of the coastline and Coral Sea.
The Sandpiper Suite is on the foremost point of the headland, overlooking two secluded beaches. It is luxuriously furnished and has a private veranda.
Up to 112 species of bird and 33 of butterfly have been recorded and it is believed there are more to add to the list.
