Dungog is a typical Australian country town in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. It has a wide main street and is surrounded by rolling hills adjacent to the Williams River. Its other river is the Paterson. It has a population of just 2500 and is essentially a cattle, dairy and timber town.
It's a great base for those wanting to explore the fine surrounding countryside, Chichester Dam, state forests and Barrington Tops National Park. Excellent bushwalking, scenic drives, swimming, horse riding, camping and canoeing are all enjoyed there.
Barrington Tops Trail Bike Adventures & Cabins, run by Glen and Alyson Charlton, have some well put-together and all-inclusive packages.
