Villa Empat Puluh Dua and Enterprise Charters

Thursday, November 9, 2006

Port Douglas is the ideal tropical escape. It has ancient rainforest on one side and the Great Barrier Reef on the other.

Villa Empat Puluh Dua is a magical place to stay. It is perched on Flagstaff Hill, overlooking Port Douglas and the Coral Sea. It was inspired by Balinese architecture and has views of rainforest, beach and mountains.

The villa spills down the hillside in a series of levels and timber decks and terraces offer privacy and tranquillity.

It has seven bedrooms — three king and four queen — and accommodates up to 14 very comfortably. Rooms have been designed to reflect a classic Asian feel. Timber louvres on windows keep out the tropical sun until you choose to let it in. All rooms have ceiling fans, air conditioning, a phone line and Internet access.

Bedrooms have ensuite facilities and are stocked with L'Occitane products for indulgence. Waffle robes and slippers are also provided.

Sanctum Spa massages and beauty treatments are given on a day bed by the pool or in the comfort of your own room. Therapists will visit on request.

Relax and do nothing and have everything done for you. Provisions can be stocked by arrangement and a chef service is available as often as you like. The makings of continental breakfasts are included and daily maid service in the kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom is standard.

Eating out in Port Douglas is an adventure ranging from tropical seafood to modern Australian cuisine and Asian delicacies. Alfresco dining is even comfortable in winter.

The villa is just five minutes' walk from the beautiful Four Mile Beach and the centre of town. Take advantage of some of the best diving and snorkelling sites on the Great Barrier Reef and the Low Isles Reef lies just offshore.

Explore the Reef with Enterprise Charters, Australian-owned and ecotourism certified. Its 56-foot Squadron Fairline is powerful and sophisticated and takes passengers to the world of ultimate luxury cruising. Snorkel, cruise, explore or relax on a private day or overnight charter to Low Isles and the outer Great Barrier Reef with personalised service and gourmet cuisine.

Your captain, hostess and chef are highly experienced and professional, with passenger safety and enjoyment their priorities as you relax. Craftsmanship is immaculate. Gleaming cherrywood has been used throughout and there are soft leather suites and plush carpets. All inside areas are air-conditioned. A stainless steel saloon door opens to a back deck, lighting is elegant and there is digital surround sound. Just take along a hat and sunscreen (not the spray variety please) and everything else is provided.
