Club Med Lindeman Island

Thursday, September 30, 2004
It's more than a holiday in the sun for the whole family … this has the beach, food, kids' club and a circus!

Club Med was the world's first resort company to mastermind the package holiday. It pioneered the all-inclusive concept and invented the kids club, which has activities for three age groups: two-to-four year olds, four-to-11 and 11 to 13 year olds. They cater for families, couples and singles and everyone is guaranteed to unwind and have a great holiday.

Lindeman Island has just helped celebrate Club Med's 10th anniversary. And they have something you won't find on any old island … a genuine circus school!

It's hard to believe there's a circus school in this 700 hectares of World Heritage National Park, but that's what you will find on Lindeman. As if that's not enough, they have two pools, two bars, entertainment every night, nature walks in the rainforest and a Club Spa, offering massage, body wrap and bronzing treatment.

Modelled on Club Med's Sandpiper Village in Florida, the flying trapeze/circus school offers guests of all ages the chance to participate in an activity unlike any other. It is one of those thrilling, exciting, scary things that, once you've done it, you can't wait to do again.

The trapeze is 10 metres above ground. Those as young as four can have a go at swinging back and forth and, with increasing confidence, do catches with other trapeze artists.

Everything is pre-paid and there is no tipping … it's simple and easy. Guests are given a book to use instead of hard currency.

Club Med Lindeman Island has 218 rooms, all overlooking the beautiful Whitsunday passage. It is built in tiers on a hillside, with a village atmosphere. Sunrises and sunsets are particularly beautiful here and the island enjoys a yearly average temperature of 23ºC.

Other activity options are endless. There are day cruises to the Reef and Whitsundays, seaplane and helicopter flights, a hilltop golf course, sunset cruises on the club's yacht, jet skis and dinghy fishing. There are facilities for tennis, windsurfing, archery, beach volleyball, water polo, kayaking, basketball, sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving, as well as fitness classes and a putting green.

The Whitsundays — off Airlie Beach on the mid-Queensland coast.

Club Med Lindeman Island has 5 night packages starting at $1441 from Brisbane, $1591 from Sydney and $1641 from Melbourne, per person, including return airfares, twin-share accommodation, all meals and activities. Available for travel starting on November 01, 2004.
