Jules Lund's on fire ... literally
17:30 AEST Sat Feb 25 2012
Jules Lund faced what he described as his baptism of fire when he visited the Stunt Academy on Queensland's Gold Coast.
If falling from towers, being set on fire, leaping off cliffs or commando-style obstacle courses are your thing, the Stunt Park is the place for you.
It's a real stunt school where professionals go to learn the tricks of their trade or brush up on skills. Stunts seem to fascinate a lot of people, so the owners of the school decided to open it for anyone prepared to give it a go.
There are secrets and techniques to learn, usually shared only with those in the industry. Guests have the chance to participate as safety crew and performer in a number of activities used in action movie making.
The park is on 1.6 hectares of private riverside parkland with a purpose-built obstacle course and abseil tower.
The highly qualified stunt trainers have learnt from and with some of Hollywood's best. They have lots to teach you and it's great fun and a great way to test mental and physical skills. Balance, strength and timing are important elements and you will know just how well tuned yours are.
Who else but Jules would deliberately and intentionally allow himself to be set alight? With great trepidation he agreed to take part in the Human Torch Fireburn.
He donned a balaclava and special suit, was sprayed with water and petrol and set alight! He actually thought it was fun and enjoyed the noise of fire crackling around him.
Human Torch Fireburn is run on special occasions and by request. Bucks' nights seem to be one occasion when people choose to be set alight!
There are half-day and full-day packages which can be photographed and filmed so you can prove to everyone that you actually did it.
They have a local pick-up and drop-off service, and lunch is included in the full day package.
If you aren't totally happy with the experience, they will refund your money.
