Dreamworld's FlowRider is the only place in Australia where there is guaranteed surf, year round!
A cross between surfing, bodyboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding and skating, you're also guaranteed warm waves to enjoy the highs of all activities in a self-contained, flexible and safe environment.
It was invented ten years ago and is now a fully-fledged sport in its own right with competitions and world rankings.
A powerful thin sheet of water jets up and over the shape of a faultless wave which can be skimmed, carved, crashed and burned for as long as the rider can handle it. When fully cranked up, the wave is split into two.
Two pumps push out 2,200,000 litres of water every minute and, as it is really all foam, it doesn't hurt if you stack, so you can get up and go again.
It operates on three levels: bodyboarding for beginners and intermediates, stand-up boarding for advanced riders and demonstrations for spectators and those who wish. If beginners and intermediates find their feet during a session, they are able to upgrade to advanced.
The most obvious difference between regular surfing and tackling the FlowRider is the differently shaped board, so even if you can already surf, don't expect you will conquer this one first go!
If surfing isn't your thing, there are loads of other fantastic attractions at Dreamworld something for everyone!
