Camp Eden

Friday, January 31, 2003
Nestled in the Gold Coast hinterland's lush, tropical rainforest, pure health and relaxation awaits — a health playground for grownups.

Camp Eden is the place to go when your mind and body need some attention. Nestled in the Gold Coast hinterland's lush tropical rainforest, its 120 hectares is a world-class haven offering pure health and relaxation.

This is where you will unwind, be pampered, shape up, have fun and discover a renewed sense of wellbeing, helped along with meditation, tai chi, yoga and wholesome, gourmet meals.

The most valuable things you will take from Camp Eden are skills and knowledge to improve your lifestyle, as well as better clarity, direction and a feeling of wellbeing.

There are three courses, tailored for your goal achievement, each with optional programs that can be taken in conjunction. Balance, Re-charge and Time Out are the programs, and a minimum of a week's stay is recommended.

As a rule, first-time visitors opt for the Balance program, incorporating gentle self-awareness workshops for maximum personal growth, and a balance of exercise, pampering and good nutrition. It is excellent for those who wish to de-stress, re-motivate, re-focus and rejuvenate.

If you choose the Re-charge course, you begin each day with two hours of abseiling, bushwalking, using the flying fox or power pole. There is Australia's most challenging high-ropes course — it has 12 puzzles to solve, and if six is enough for you, you can quit then. If you don't quit, then you must continue to the end.

Time Out is the least structured of the course choices. Mornings are free and there is more time for yoga and stretching.

The three courses enjoy massages, facials, body scrubs and visits to the steam room and sauna.

Guests should take comfortable, casual clothing and there is a list of prohibited goods — tobacco, all beverages, radios, food and drugs. Prescription drugs, vitamins and food supplements are permitted.

The valley has Aboriginal spiritual significance that can help the current day activities. The camp's staff are well-trained, genuinely enthusiastic and caring about your progress and enjoyment.
