Riding the waves.
Wave-riding on the Gold Coast.
Queensland's Gold Coast thrives and exists on tourism so now we have the latest addition - an ocean-going four-wheel-drive!
Queensland's Gold Coast thrives and exists on tourism. Tour operators, hoteliers, restaurateurs and souvenir sellers are constantly coming up with new ideas to attract the holiday dollar.
The latest addition is an ocean-going four-wheel-drive. The 7.5m Gemini Waverider Semi Rigid Inflatable is powered by twin 200hp outboards and can reach 50 knots, or 105 km/h!
The boats are operated by a crew of two and take 12 passengers on an extreme ocean adventure past the high-rise metropolis that is Surfers Paradise. They depend upon the weather and tide, and when they are both good, that's when they head out.
The one-and-a-half-hour trip alternates between gently cruising along the Surfers Paradise coastline to 10-minute blasts of airborne, adrenaline-pumping speeds through the surf. It's certainly not a ride for the fainthearted, although once you get over thinking about being flipped out, you settle down and feel like going one more time.
Location
Surfers Paradise on Queensland's Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Oceanrafters cost $60 for a one-and-a-half-hour thrill ride along the Surfers Paradise coast. Children under 12 are not permitted on the ride.
