Port Douglas is one of the main gateways to Australia's Great Barrier Reef. On a Poseidon five-star cruise, snorkellers and scuba divers can visit three spectacular sites at the Agincourt Ribbon Reefs.
The locally owned and operated company has 23 years experience on the reef and knows how to read tidal and weather conditions to give the best experience. They cater for everyone, from beginners to fully qualified PADI divers (who need to produce their cards of certification). Beginners are provided with flotation devices and given one-on-one assistance in the water.
A marine biologist gives a reef interpretation talk to passengers, who are in a high passenger-crew ratio, ensuring personalised service and individual attention.
There is unrestricted exploration of shallow lagoons, with spectacular drop-offs and an extraordinary array of fragile corals, pinnacles, walls and colourful fish.
MV Poseidon III is an ultra-modern 24m high-speed catamaran. The luxury vessel has a top speed of 30 knots, offering a fast, comfortable trip to the reef. Its main saloon is air-conditioned, with a spacious top sundeck and wheelhouse salon and a purpose-built rear deck with lowering transom, giving easy access into and out of the water.
Trips leave daily from the Port Douglas Marina at 8.30am and return at around 4pm. A tropical buffet lunch plus morning and afternoon teas are served.
