Australia's Red Centre is a place of unique natural wonders and ancient cultures. Just 4.5 kilometres south of Alice Springs, MacDonnell Range Holiday Park offers a wide range of accommodation.
There are van sites on large lawns, cabins, villas, budget cabins, ensuite powered sites, powered sites with sullage and grassy tent sites. All villas and cabins have reverse cycle air-conditioning, colour television, refrigerator and cooking facilities. Deluxe villas, villas and ensuite cabins have shower and toilet and some have a bathtub.
They have a games room, two adventure playgrounds, mini-mart, laundries and a tour booking service.
Each Sunday, free pancakes are served for breakfast. They are a park specialty. Not only do holiday makers get to enjoy this treat, but it is a good time to meet other travellers and compare notes.
On Mondays there is a four-wheel drive information night. An experienced tour operator passes on knowledge and tips, and presents a slide show.
Every Tuesday, year round, an astronomer gives star talks. Out here, the clear desert sky allows earthlings to see so many more stars than from any other vantage place.
Between April and October the Red Centre Show takes place on Wednesday evenings. A local musician entertains visitors with well-known ballads, and everyone sings along.
On Thursday nights visitors are entertained by a local didgeridoo player.
Each Monday and Friday afternoon there is a one hour talk on native desert foods and fauna.
So, there is always something to do at MacDonnell Holiday Park whether it's making new friends, resting up or learning more about this remarkable part of the planet.
