Tea in the library

Saturday, August 21, 2004
If you are after a nice quiet spot to read with a lovely pot of tea, then you’re going to love this place.

Tea in the Library opened last November by Annette Freeman, a lady with a life long passion for books, who actually is a fulltime trademark attorney!

Annette noticed a gap in the market for not just ‘another bookstore’ but a bookstore that resembles a literacy lounge room. To create an ambiance and approach to the customer that is unique and memorable. This atmosphere reflecting places like discussion clubs in New York or an English country house library. Tea in the Library is her little ‘nest egg’, a life long passion and dream.

Three strong values the team abide by:

  1. Respect for books and their value in the community and the world;
  2. A commitment to service that is beyond all expectations; and
  3. A strong community involvement through events, discussion groups and a forum for "having your say".

The staff is perfectly picked, all having a common love for all things revolving around books. Backgrounds such as script editing children’s television to owning a café in the Blue Mountains to dealing old and rare books… this circle of knowledge gives Tea in the Library a complete service to its customer’s requests.

As the literature within plays an integral role, so to does the food they offer. The café offers creative, fresh dishes, juices and excellent teas and espresso coffee.

Along with all the other things Tea in the Library offers, they have jazz in the Library also.

Tea in the Library is very integral – 50% books & 50% café. About 10,000 books in stock, reps come in once a month to take orders and replenish stock.

General range of books but is known for there Fiction Biographies and wonderful range of Kids books.
