returns to Channel Nine on Thursday, May 25, at 7.30pm with an exclusive report on an undiscovered Australian island paradise.
The trip to Haggerstone Island is an adventure in itself, involving chartered planes and a boat. The far-flung remote paradise was voted by acclaimed US magazine Travel and Leisure as the number-one beach destination for the 21st century.
"It would be without doubt one of the best places I have been to in Australia and it totally lives up to its reputation," says Reyne, who also wrote, produced and presented his story on the island.
The new season of Getaway also introduces a regular segment dedicated to romantic getaways.
On the first romantic getaway, David visits the captivating La Foret Enchantee at Margaret River in Western Australia, fast becoming known not only as a region that produces great wine and surfing waves but as an extraordinary place to stay.
La Foret Enchantee also offers the services of a masseuse, chef and chauffeur-driven vintage Rolls Royce to tour the abundance of local vineyards.
"Either of the two accommodation offerings at La Foret Enchantee, the Palazzo and the Cabin, would inspire even the most dour of partnerships to stay indoors," says Reyne.
Other stories in the first show for Getaway include Catriona Rowntree's survivor's guide to Disneyworld in Florida, and whitewater rafting on the Olympic kayaking course in Sydney.
Sorrel Wilby hits Thailand and sets off through the incredibly beautiful national park Khao Sok, while Ben Dark gets friendly with the locals at the bizarre opal-mining town of Andamooka in South Australia.
Getaway, now in its ninth year, is led by presenters Ben Dark, David Reyne, Catriona Rowntree and Sorrel Wilby.
