Spring Creek Bird Hide and Barren Grounds Bird Observatory are beautiful places to explore and Carrington Falls is spectacular, dropping 50 metres into Kangaroo Valley.
Just 15 minutes away in Budderoo National Park is the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre, which is celebrating 100 years as a conservation reserve. It is rare to experience rainforest and a wide range of ferns in a sandstone canyon, once found extensively in the Illawarra region.
The fragile ecosystem can be accessed by a network of raised timber boardwalks and paved walk tracks. Visitors of all ages and abilities can readily access it and enjoy the wonderful array of birds which make Minnamurra their home.
The Rainforest Loop Walk is a 1.6km elevated timber boardwalk, meandering through subtropical and temperate rainforests. It takes around an hour to complete the walk.
Halfway round is a combination of timber boardwalk and paved surface leading to the Minnamurra Falls. The walk is about 2.5 kilometres, round trip.
Falls Walk is a challenging 2.6km boardwalk and paved track giving magnificent views into the canyon below. It leads onto the viewing platforms of the lower and upper falls. The songs of lyrebirds and laughter of kookaburras accompany you all the way through Minnamurra.
The Centre has a café serving light meals, snacks and refreshments and a barbecue/picnic area.
