Tumbling Waters Retreat is at Stanwell Tops which sits on an escarpment surrounded by national park and is the only five-star accommodation within cooee.
Sonja Keller and Andrew Bergmann are the owners and their closest opposition is another five-star property in Bundeena which is owned by Sonja's parents.
Sadly, the Christmas bushfires in 2001 ravaged most of their property, but it is up and running again, and filling the owners' aim to bring the natural beauty of the outside inside.
There are three suites Hallorans, Hargraves and Wadi Wadi and one cabin, The Candle Stone, all built of sandstone and warm woods and designed for couples only. They give wonderful rainforest, ocean, beach and garden views from huge windows and are filled with original artworks and African carvings. They have a granite kitchenette, flat screen television, CD player, VCR and cable broadband Internet connection.
Everyone loves the marble bathrooms. They each have a large, cast iron, double-ended tub and are designed for two, so no-one gets the tap end.
Lawrence Hargrave Stream flows through the property into an ornamental infinity mineral pool, once believed to have special healing powers. It was built in the 30s and is possibly one of the first wet edge pools ever built. It eventually cascades to the forest below.
Barbecue facilities are available and picnic hampers can be provided and on Fridays, Andrew enjoys cooking up a chargrill for guests.
Stanwell Park has a charming village atmosphere with cafes, antique shops, gallery, private beaches and crystal swimming holes.
