Catriona waits for her ride.
Inside the Thunderbird.
Driving through the Southern Highlands.

Thursday, June 1, 2000
Catriona cruises the Southern Highlands in a red 1961 Ford Thunderbird convertible — a car lover's dream!

The Dolans are experts at showing visitors around New South Wales. They previously operated award-winning Harley Davidson and WWII jeep tours of the Blue Mountains.

Now their tours operate mainly out of Bowral, but that is flexible. Tours can last from two-and-a-half hours to a full day. The five main tours cover the Southern Highlands, the Illawarra, the south coast or Canberra to Sydney. If you want to stop and explore a small town, David gives you plenty of private time to shop and browse.

One of the most popular outings is the Mountain High tour, which goes through Berrima, Bowral and the Kangaroo Valley. The round trip takes around four hours and includes a visit to Mt Gibraltar, the Bradman Oval, Bong Bong Racecourse, Fitzroy Falls and country. The views from Cambewarra Lookout in the Kangaroo Valley are particularly spectacular.

Each tour-goer receives an Indulgence Pack, containing a bottle of Joadja wine, a copy of the local Highlife magazine and home-made chocolate and shortbread. Morning tea and light refreshments are available on all tours, and lunch is provided on full-day tours.

Rates are based on vehicle hire, so you can have one to four people in the car, but the price will be per car.
