Sorrel has found the perfect romantic retreat for that country escape … you can even have your own chef.
If you're feeling a little jaded and want to escape to recharge your batteries or put some sparkle into your love life Rustic Spirit, just west of Sydney, could be just the answer.
There are just three cottages perched on a rock ledge with a wall of glass looking across the treetops. Verandahs which overlook native bush feature birdfeeders which attract colourful king parrots, rosellas and zebra finches. There are gas barbecues so you can cook your breakfast indoors or outdoors. You need an appetite as the breakfast supplied by the owners is huge sausages, bacon, eggs from their hens, tomatoes, cereals, fruits, juices, bread, plunger coffee and a selection of teas. The verandahs enjoy winter sun but are shaded in the hotter months which make them comfortable year-round.
The living room has a wood fire, video, CD player and the full kitchen has a microwave oven. Drinking water is treated by ultraviolet light and tastes wonderful.
Bathrooms have a shower and double spa fitted with a special exhaust system which blow pipes clear of moisture and any bacteria. Bubble bath, gel and shampoo are provided and towels are beautifully warmed.
Beds are queen size with fluffy doonas, electric blankets and luxurious linen. Candles are supplied so you can create your own romantic lighting inside while garden lighting completes the picture.
Robert van Rosmalen of Your Personal Chef will whip up a delicious three course gourmet meal for you to enjoy in your cottage, but if you prefer, there are restaurants in the area.
There is also a nine-hole golf course nearby, plus Mt Tomah cold climate botanic gardens, the marvellous gardens of Mt Wilson, historic Windsor or, for something energetic, grass karting or grass skiing.
