Hidden Valley Retreat.
Bec at the Hidden Retreat.
This place is not called hidden for nothing... nestled in the foothills near Kurrajong you will find retreat.
Hidden Valley Retreat Cottages are set in an isolated 16ha property surrounded by reserve in the foothills near Kurrajong. This place is not called "hidden" for nothing – on booking, owner Lesley Wood sends out maps with directions as the property is very secluded and there aren't many clues to help you find it.
The emphasis is very much on peace, privacy and tranquility. It provides the perfect setting for a romantic hideaway or for a group of people to take over the whole place for a weekend away.
The accommodation consists of three seperate cottages. The mud-brick cottage is the oldest and most unique. It sleeps up to eight people with two separate bedrooms downstairs and a big loft bedroom upstairs that sleeps four. The cottage is fully self-contained with a bathroom and kitchen stocked with essentials and a pot-belly stove.
The "Cabbage Tree Cottage" and "Magnolia Cottage" are more lavish inside than their rustic exteriors suggest. Each sleeps four people and has two bedrooms, an open fire place an double spa bath.
They are also fully self-contained and the bathroom and kitchen come complete with many extras like a bottle of champagne, coffee and tea, picnic basket and rug, oil burners, candles, books, games and a stereo with CD player. Outside is a BBQ with wooden table and chairs.
Well behaved children are welcome at Hidden Valley Retreat as are pets. Pets can asleep inside if house-trained, otherwise they will need to be are strained at night to protect the wildlife. There are two creeks on the property, mountains to climb and caves to explore. There is also an all-weather tennis court and natural rock swimming pool. The area is a great place for mountain biking or horse riding, and Kurrajong is a 10 minute drive from where there are lots of cafés and antiques.
