The Gumnut Cottage.
The Peach Cottage.
The Rose Room.
There are a few lodges to choose from at Redgum, so settle in and take a beautiful walk around the lagoon - or, as most do, simply stay put.
Just 20 minutes from Mildura on the NSW side of the Murray River is where Carol and Les McWhinney have made themselves a retreat to share with others.
Redgum Lagoon named because of its outlook has two fully self-contained cottages and a b&b guestroom, making up the only hosted accommodation on the Thegoa Lagoon.
Peach Cottage is set in a garden and Gum Nut Cottage overlooks the lagoon. Each cottage has a lounge room, kitchen and laundry. Peach Cottage has two bedrooms so is popular with families, and Gum Nut has one bedroom. Each has its own carport, heating and air-conditioning system.
The Rose Room is located in the main house and has its own entry and ensuite, plus heating and air-conditioning. It is a homely, elegant room and breakfast is included in its rate. For stays of two nights in the cottages, a breakfast basket is provided.
The cottages have barbecue areas and an outdoor deck where guests can relax and enjoy their meals. There's lots of bird-life in the area and you often see kangaroos drinking from the lagoon. The lagoon has carp, redfin and silver perch, and guests can enjoy catching and cooking their dinner. If you take your fishing seriously, Carol and Les will let you use their rowing boat or canoe.
For those wanting to explore the local area, the McWhinneys can arrange day trips to Mungo National Park with Aboriginal tour guides. There are beautiful walks around the lagoon, but mostly when people arrive at this cosy retreat, they are just happy to stay put.
