Getaway reporters are always being asked for the latest hot spots to indulge in a posh holiday, and they each have their favourites. Natalie Gruzlewski has just added another to her list: the Nam Hai in Hoi An, Central Vietnam.
The Nam Hai Villas are on a 32-hectare patch of heaven on the outskirts of Hoi An. "Nam Hai" actually translates to "Heaven on Earth" and it's one of the most luxurious places to stay in the entire country.
A kilometre-long stretch of the pristine China Beach spreads along the property and Cham Islands can be seen across the sea. Harmony between architecture and nature has been achieved.
There are 60 one-bedroom villas with indoor and outdoor sitting areas, bathrooms opening to private gardens and outdoor shower. Beds are on a raised platform in the centre of the room and they are surrounded by soft mosquito netting. Some have a pool and each has landscaped gardens.
Forty pool villas have courtyard entrances leading to living and dining areas. They have a kitchen, maid's room and private pool.
There are two gourmet restaurants they specialise in international and Vietnamese cuisine, seafood and grills. The bar has a wide range of cocktails and snacks.
The Spa Center, set around a lagoon, is for relaxation and rejuvenation. There are eight private suites with individual steam room, gym, three beachfront pools, four tennis courts, a badminton and basketball court and there's a good library when you want to wind down.
If you fancy a fishing trip, put in an early wake-up call and head out with one of the local fishermen. Natalie's guide's family has been fishing in the area for generations and with tourists joining one of their tours they are helping to support the village. It's a wonderful way to learn something of local life and meet some of the villagers.
