China's theme park you've never heard of

17:30 AEST Sat Apr 21 2012
Shenzhen is where people from Hong Kong go to shop when they want a bargain, so it must be good. It's around 45 minutes by train from Hong Kong Island, just inside the border of the mainland.

Dermott took the train ride and discovered something else as well as retail therapy. As Shenzhen lacks the history and natural beauty of many other cities, $US30 billion was spent on creating a place to attract people.

Window of the World is a most extraordinary theme park. Covering 48 hectares, it has 130 reproductions of some of the world's wonders, historical heritages and scenic sites. Everything is built at ratios of 1:1, 1:5 or 1:15. Within a day you can travel the world.

Just seen your article re Shenzhen's windows to the world. There is another "windows to the world," in Changsha Southern Central China, but I must admit not as good as this one in Shenzhen. Will have to visit this one now!
