Alfajiri Villas are on the deserted and quiet Diani Beach overlooking the Indian Ocean. Many consider the resort the finest on the east African coast. Their elevated positions ensure privacy and marvellous views. Alfajiri means sunrise in Swahili and given the magnificent dawns, is most appropriate.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were staying at the villas when news of their romance was broken to the world. Since then, life is back to its normal tranquil pace.
Alfajiri is owned and hosted by Italian couple Fabrizio and Marika Molinaro. They have spent over 23 years in Kenya in the safari business and travelled through Africa and Asia for artefacts for the villas.
Large verandahs with huge hand-carved sofas with cushions dominate the front of the villas, where a stretch pool sits on the edge of a small cliff merging with the sea and horizon.
There is a bright and airy feel at Alfajiri, with high Makuti roofs, ivory Danish floors, wooden beams and Lamu doors. Most furniture is made in the property's workshop. Immaculately maintained gardens include palms and other plants from the villa's nursery.
Staff are on hand to cater for every whim. There are massage therapists, butlers and nannies on call 24 hours a day.
