On board the Queen Victoria

, Prev Next This Valentine's Day, I was extremely lucky to take part in the maiden voyage aboard the Queen Victoria as it made its journey from beautiful Fiji to picturesque New Zealand.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as not only was this the Queen Victoria's maiden voyage, she would also be docking in Sydney with sister ship, Queen Elizabeth II, who, in contrast, was on her final voyage.

This was a momentous occasion and I couldn't believe I was going to be a part of it! These grand liners are absolutely magnificent and it felt so special to be part of such an historic event.

The liner features all the luxurious pleasures you'd expect, ranging from hair salons, cigar lounges, day spas and even a shopping arcade!

One of the highlights for me onboard was being taken behind-the-scenes into the royal theatre and watching a play being rehearsed. But I have to say my favourite part had to be meeting so many lovely and friendly travellers on board who I discovered were regulars on the cruise ships. Imagine what a life that would be like!

On the day, the ship had set up a massive Valentine's ball with all the glamour you'd expect on a luxurious cruise. Thanks to my dancing host, Jo, I have to say I even learnt to do a pretty mean fox-trot.

All in all, it was an amazing experience and not only for me was it Valentine's Day; I would also be celebrating my first wedding anniversary on the 17th of February so this week has been a double celebration!

Hi Natalie, Thank you for working with us for the filming of the Beach to Bush Buggy Tours. I am just wondering when it will be on t.v. It was great working with you and my sister said to say hi to the sound man.
hey nat while i enjoy your show on occasion, i find it infuriating and most unfortunate that many of your stories (particularly your recent trip in asia) involve promoting excessive levels of shopping. you guys seemed to spend most of your time in bangkok or other shopping malls chatting about great deals on big brand ripoffs, and only minimal time visiting shrines or other places of real touring value. shopping is fine but as westerners do we not have enough stuff already.
Hi Natalie I would like to thank every body at getaway for the magnificent work on the country of the year i am a proud kiwi and was blown away with the way you and the team went about the New Zealand episode it was truly picturesque some thing out of a movie or a dream. Thanks Natalie,Catriona,Kelly,Jules,Jason,Dermott. Thanks Adam
Hi Natalie, My sister is currently in Dubai. I would like to know where you may suggest to go shopping apart from the mall, as it is very pricey. I know that there are markets through the streets. Are there any hidden boutiques that you experienced while you were travelling through Dubai? Kind regards Kim
