Behind the scenes: Euro Road Trip, pt 2

, Prev Next

We hope you enjoyed the first segment of the European Road Trip, which saw our four intrepid young Aussies introduced to one another in London and set out on their adventure. Over the next six weeks our road trippers will be blogging about what didn't make it on your screen, so be sure to come back each week for the goss.

You can also join their Facebook fan page to see their personal photos, and learn more about the team in our exclusive online video.

CJ:

Amsterdam was filled with laughs, screams, fears and tears for me. The Red Light District obviously freaked me out (girls, if you decide to take this one on, make sure you have the right company). Thankfully Courtney looked after me and I still ended up enjoying the place.

Off camera Courtney, Eloise and I bought the most ridiculous looking Heineken hats from the Heineken factory (they're like Eskimo caps), and had a genuinely awesome time traipsing around town with our new gear. Courtney even decided to leave the factory wearing nothing but his hat and brand new bright green Heineken bath robe! Hmmm ...

And a word of advice to future road trippers? BYO toilet paper seems to be the go in Europe. Unfortunately Eloise and I have been learning that the hard way!

Keep smiling, and see you this week from Germany.

Courtney:

Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed our adventures around Amsterdam.

My favourite activity was definitely the Heineken Museum ... but what you didn't see was the damage that place did to my wallet. I got sucked into the gift shop and €160 later I walked out wearing a Heineken robe, t-shirt, boxer shorts, thongs and a very cool beer hat. Ooops.

Bike riding around Amsterdam is a total must do; that is, of course, assuming you know how to ride a bike. We were all shocked to learn that CJ didn't know how to pedal, but it was fun having her in the 'dickie seat' on the front of my bike. At one stage I went roaring down a side street and literally got air off a speed hump ... I'm pretty sure CJ wet herself.

Despite CJ losing it during our night on the town (I have to say that I warned her what it would be like) we had an amazing time on the town. We went to a 'bicycle bar' ... which is hard to explain, but it was powered by peddles! Bar stools were equipped with peddles underneath every seat, and 20 people attached to a single steering mechanism (powered by the bartender) and you could cycle while you got sloshed. Getting fit and drinking whilst sightseeing? Only in Amsterdam!

Tune in this week when things get fruity at the Cologne Mardi Gras ...
